If you decide to go the route of removing your chin implants Dr. Varkarakis will make a small incision just under your chin within the natural crease lines, so any scarring will be fairly inconspicuous. The chin implant is then removed through the incision.

Once you are out of surgery, you will be allowed to return home. The treated areas will be bandaged carefully to facilitate in the healing process. It is important that you keep your head properly elevated for the first 24 hours to help minimize bruising and swelling. You may experience some bruising and swelling for the first several weeks. Once the swelling has diminished, the implants will start to look more natural. Any visible sutures that may have been used will be removed within 5-7 days, following your procedure. Usually there are not any since we make the incisions with a small needle and sutures are needed only for the closure of the lipo wounds of the abdomen.
The incision is usually unnoticeable because of its discreet location and will fade with the use of advanced scar reducing treatment. Temporary numbness, or perhaps a sensation of tightness across the chin area can sometimes happen and is normal. This should resolve over time. Typically, you will be asked to return to the office following your surgery, for a follow-up appointment, so that Dr. Varkarakis may be allowed to check in with you, and see how you’re doing.
